private THERAPEUTIC yoga lessons and mentoring

The intention of a therapeutic private yoga session is to help move a client in a forward direction. Often that approach begins with addressing the structural needs of the student and helping decrease physical discomfort/pain, while increasing movement, circulation, flexibility, and strength.  However, over time, each student can expect all dimensions of “whole self” to be integrated through a personalized practice that influences their physical, physiological, emotional, and mental patterns; therefore, promoting optimal wellness in all areas of life.

The 90-minute initial private therapeutic session begins with an intake. Medical history, lifestyle, and yoga therapy goals will be reviewed. Stacey will evaluate an individual’s structure, movement, and breath connection and capacity.   The client will leave with yoga therapy strategies/practice to implement. These practices are designed to help manage, reduce, and in some cases eliminate symptoms. Yoga therapy practices progress along with the client’s progression and understanding.

What Kind of Conditions can Yoga Therapy address?

Yoga therapy can be used for structural issues. Examples of structurally symptoms can include chronic low back pain, limited mobility, joint pain, and sacrum instability. Stacey is expertly trained to observe a client’s structure and dysfunctional movement patterns that can be causing pain, then work to reeducate the client on moving in a functional way that can reduce pain and symptoms.

Yoga therapy can be used for physiological issues. Examples of physiologically symptoms can include imbalances in digestion, sleep, stress levels, and blood pressure. Even diagnosed conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease or autoimmune disorders like Fibromyalgia can be addressed through yoga therapy. Stacey can work in tandem with your medical professional as needed.

Yoga therapy can be used for mental health issues. Examples of common mental health issues are anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Stacey has a considerable amount of experience working with clients, both children and adults, who have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder including being on the spectrum.

In working with Stacey, there is a big emphasis on learning how to breathe deeply, smoothly,  and properly.  The client will learn how to integrate the breath with gentle therapeutic movement.  This is called a “breath-centric” practice and is the key to inner transformation, or mindfulness.

The 90-minute initial session involves an intake that focuses on client’s reason for yoga therapy visit and evaluation process with Stacey. Each subsequent session is 60 minutes with focus on client’s priority issues, symptoms, and progression.
